According to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and Feeding America: Map the Meal Gap, more than 52,000 individuals in Lancaster County are considered “food insecure”. That’s 1 in 10 persons. For children; the number is 1 in 6. Many families in Lancaster County (62%) admit to having to choose between paying for food and paying for medicine or healthcare, and 45% admit to having to choose between paying for food and paying for rent/mortgage.

At Northwest EMS, we believe every child should be able to experience trick-or-treat without fear of a life-threatening allergy and that is why we are a Teal Pumpkin Project partner.  On October 31, between 6 & 8 PM, you can bring your children trick-or-treating to either our Manheim or our Elizabethtown station where they will receive toys, an activity book or another small item, rather than candy.  This is something we offer every year during Lancaster County’s trick-or-treat night as ...
