National EMS Memorial Service (NEMSMS) Slated To Honor Paramedic Douglas Zima

Northwest EMS has been advised that the National EMS Memorial Service (NEMSMS) will be honoring Paramedic Douglas Zima at this year’s memorial observances in Washington, DC on July 24th.

This year’s Memorial Service will pay tribute to over 100 EMS providers who died in the line of duty, in what will be the largest EMS Memorial the foundation has performed to date. Help Us Support Child Life Programs!

When a child is admitted to the hospital, it can be a very unsettling experience. One of the ways that hospitals alleviate the anxiety of procedures and unfamiliar surroundings is by providing toys, activities, puzzles and other items that can pre-occupy the child and distract them from their situation. These seemingly small (and inexpensive) items make a huge impact on the well-being of the child. The gesture also gives parents the confidence that their child is coping well.

The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank reports that, in Lancaster County, there are about 74,580 individuals estimated to be Food Insecure. That’s 1 in 7 persons. More concerningly, they estimate that 27,190 (or 1 in 5) are children*. Nutritional food sources are essential to building, keeping and maintaining individual and community health.
