Save A Life Night

Northwest EMS and State Representative Mindy Fee are partnering to sponsor a Save A Life Night to be held on Thursday, October 25 from 6 – 8 PM, at the Manheim Central Middle School where attendees will learn the life-saving skills of Hands Only CPR® and the hemorrhage control techniques of the Stop The Bleed® initiative.  When someone collapses in cardiac arrest or becomes injured and suffers a traumatic hemorrhage, those first few moments are critical if the victim is to survive.   Survival is dependent on an immediate response and our goal is to educate the community on the importance of bystander response during those precious moments before the arrival of an ambulance.

Someone suffering from cardiac arrest will suffer irreversible brain damage within four minutes.  Someone who is bleeding out from an arterial hemorrhage will also bleed out and possibly die within four minutes.  In both circumstances, survival and recovery are minimal.  But when bystanders perform simple interventions promptly and correctly, a victim’s chances of survival are significantly increased.

Hands Only CPR®, when done promptly and correctly can increase someone’s chances of survival to nearly 90%.  And when a tourniquet if applied promptly and correctly, they are giving the victim a chance at life that otherwise could not occur due to significant blood loss.  Some tourniquets are designed to be self-applied by the victim.

Join us for this unique opportunity and learn how you can help save a life.  The life you save, may be your own, or that of a loved one.  The day after a tragedy is not the day to ask how you can help.  Register for this event at RepFee.com or call 717-664-4979.
