EMS Week 2023 Celebrates The Pre-Hospital Profession

This year marks the 48th year that a week-long celebration of the EMS profession will take place in May. This year’s theme is “EMS. Where Emergency Care Begins.”

The first EMS Week was recognized in 1974 when President Gerald Ford authorized the week-long celebration to recognize EMS practitioners and the important work we do in our communities. This year, EMS Week will occur May 21 – 27, 2023, with the following themes for each day of the week:
Sunday – Health, Wellness and Resilience Day
Monday – EMS Education Day
Tuesday – Safety Tuesday
Wednesday – EMS for Children Day
Thursday – Save-A-Life Day (CPR & Stop the Bleed)
Friday – EMS Recognition Day

Community organizations, schools and individuals are encouraged to show appreciation for paramedics and EMTs during the annual week-long celebration. At Northwest EMS, we plan to use the daily themes to bring attention to prevention and safety topics important to the community.
